Village Green

The Village Green is the marketplace during the Wellington Folk Festival, which includes stall holders who have prearranged to be part of the Village Green. They provide a complementary and much appreciated addition to the festival. In the past, stalls have included jewellery, clothing, massage, crafts, produce, bone carving, many varieties of quality NZ made musical instruments, blacksmithing, hats, bags, honey and more.

For Wellyfest 2023, the following stall holders are confirmed:

Hardieboys – pictured above, on the left – they have consistently been part of Wellyfest for the last eight years. They are a much-loved part of the festival and with their brewery located in the neighbourhood, providing fresh commercially brewed and hand-crafted ginger beer, lemonade and lime fizz, along with freshly squeezed orange juice, and spiders! Yes, that old Kiwi favourite, a scoop of vanilla ice-cream with your choice from their range of fizz poured on top. It has also been hinted they provide Hot Toddys at night, however, best to check with them, to be sure, to be sure.

Bare Bones Folk Instruments – pictured above, they are on the right with the maroon gazebo – Graham (Bones) Hurlock has been a part of Wellyfest for many years and possibly longer than Hardieboys! He sells handcrafted instruments and it is great to feature a NZ luthier in the Village Green.

Fruitscoop – who provide hand made gelato and locally sourced ice cream. They also have been part of Wellyfest for the last twelve years! However for this year, Fruitscoop will be onsite for Sunday only.

Merch table – run by Dianne Madill, for 2023 this will be inside the Balladeer. Dianne sells merch and CDs on behalf of the great acts who are our Festival Guests. Dianne will also sell other associated items of interest to festival-goers.

Great to see all of these long time Village Green stall holders once again being part of Wellyfest!
